Family-run since 1998 on the ridge above Tauranga Harbour. Farm eggs and fresh bread in the morning, the tide coming in under your window, and Mauao ten minutes down the road.
The Whitlock family has kept these two weatherboard cottages since 1998. Nothing is fancy and nothing is rushed. You get proper beds, a deck that faces the water, eggs from our hens and bread from the oven. Most guests come for a weekend and leave already planning the next one.
Each cottage is self-contained, with its own deck, kitchenette and parking. Linen, towels and the breakfast basket are included.

“We keep it to two cottages on purpose. That way we actually get to know the people who stay.”
Jo Whitlock, your host

Every evening we leave a basket at your door, so breakfast is ready whenever you are. No set times, no dining room, just your own deck and the view.

The harbour is at its calmest first thing. Take your coffee out to the deck before anyone else is up.
Open the basket, boil the eggs, toast the bread. There is no rush and nobody is waiting for the table.
The summit track takes about 45 minutes and the view over the Bay of Plenty is worth every step.
The saltwater hot pools are at the foot of the mountain. The main beach is next door for a swim or a surf.
The light goes gold over the harbour. Fire up the barbecue, or ask us for a table at our favourite fish place.

Yes. The breakfast basket is part of every stay: eggs, fresh bread, jam, butter, milk, coffee and tea.
About ten minutes by car to the main beach and the base of Mauao. The harbour is right below the cottages.
Harbour Cottage is great for families and we can put in a cot and high chair. Pōhutukawa Cottage is better for two adults.
